How To Use Multiple PHP Versions (PHP-FPM & FastCGI) With ISPConfig 3 (Ubuntu 13.04)
Since ISPConfig 3.0.5, it is possible to use multiple PHP versions on one server and select the optimal PHP version for a website. This feature works with PHP-FPM (starting with PHP 5.3) and FastCGI (all PHP 5.x versions). This tutorial shows how to build PHP 5.3 and PHP 5.4 as a PHP-FPM and a FastCGI version on an Ubuntu 13.04 server. These PHP versions can be used together with the default PHP (installed through apt) in ISPConfig.

As with any API that is under active development, sometimes as an Android developer you'll come across a really neat feature which, it turns out, doesn't exist in earlier versions of the API and isn't backwards-compatible. There are a couple of ways to deal with this. One is simply to insist that users must have a given version, and to limit your app to that version. However, that can also limit the reach of your app – there are still plenty of people out there using older versions of Android. Another option, for certain features, is to make use of the Android Support Library.

Securing SSH On Ubuntu Precise With WiKID Two-Factor Authentication
SSH offers a highly secure channel for remote administration of servers. However, if you face an audit for regulatory or business requirements, such as Visa/Mastercard PCI, you need to be aware of some potential authentication related short-comings that may cause headaches in an audit. In this document we are going to demonstrate how to combine two-factor authentication from WiKID on Ubuntu. This document will also serve as the basis for additional tutorials because many services on Linux use PAM for authentication.

See how easy it is to setup a dual boot to Fedora 18 on your recent model MacBook Air (MBA). You don't need to install custom boot loaders or touch the internal SSD that contains OSX at all. Instead, take advantage of a high speed USB 3 pen drive as your Linux boot disk. After booting Fedora, graphics and wifi work without any extra tinkering. With the higher end modern USB 3.x pen drives disk performance doesn't need to crawl, either.
This might be just the ticket if you have a MacBook Air and wish to retain OSX on it but also want to have access to a laptop running a full flavored Linux while on the go.

How To Configure Apache To Use Radius For WiKID Two-Factor Authentication On Ubuntu
This document describes how to add WiKID two-factor authentication to Apache 2.x using mod_auth_radius on Ubuntu 12.04 Precise. It is recommended that you consider using mutual https authentication for web applications that are worthy of two-factor authentication. Strong mutual authentication means that the targeted website is authenticated to the user in some cryptographically secure manner, thwarting most man-in-the-middle attacks. The use of cryptography is key. While some sites use an image in an attempt to validate a server, it should be noted that any man-in-the-middle could simply replay such an image.

One of the strengths of Puppet, the IT automation application, is the flexibility it offers administrators to manage multiple servers through the use of customized templates and remote system facts, which are essentially variable values from remotely managed nodes. Thanks to this flexibility you can administer each Puppet node with instructions tailored for its specific environment – something you cannot do with simpler multiserver administration tools.
As I talk about how to administer nodes with Puppet, I'll assume you are already acquainted with the software and have a working Puppet environment configured. If not, read Multiserver administration with Puppet to get started.

Last week we looked at PCLinuxOS, an excellent Linux distribution based on Mandriva Linux. Today we're kicking the tires of Mageia Linux, which is a fork of Mandriva. Mandriva Linux has had its ups and downs as a commercial venture, but despite the financial struggles it's a first-rate distribution that offers enterprise support and a number of enterprise products such as Pulse, their enterprise IT management system, Mandriva Business Server, and training and consulting. Mageia was created in 2010 as an independent, non-profit project, not tied to the fortunes of a commercial company, after most of the Mandriva developers were laid off.
Mageia.org is the association that governs Mageia, with an annually-elected community board. I like their definition of community, because it includes more than developers:
